Route Management

Bustracks™ Consulting Services is designed to offer assistance for the busy transportation manager by offering a "fresh set of eyes" to review daily route management. Working with you, we will clearly define your current transportation policy in writing in order to determine the objectives of a routing analysis. We will not assume that ALL routes need to change. This will save you money by focusing on only those routes in question.

We will then review the current selected runs and develop a "base case" from which to evaluate all subsequent changes. Based on the objectives of the analysis, alternate scenarios will be presented with the changes in run costs and service levels.

We use the Bustracks™ Transportation Management Software for all analysis. This proven and dynamic system offers the most flexibility for multiple "what-if" scenarios, assuring that the final scenario will be the most cost-effective while insuring maximum safety and service.

Redistricting Analysis

Opening or closing schools in a district is always an emotional time for students, parents, and administrators. Bustracks Consulting Services understands this, and takes a multi-step approach to determining new school boundaries.

The first step is to carefully listen to school board, administration, transportation, and parent representatives to clearly define the issues and the objectives of the redistrict analysis.

These include:

• Future growth areas
• Declining population areas
• Current student assignments
• Neighborhoods
• Current bus stop locations
• Safe and efficient bus runs

Next, we review current student address locations to develop the "base-case" from which to evaluate all subsequent changes. Existing school boundary lines are clearly displayed. Then, we project student address locations for the starting year of the new assignments. Alternate scenarios are developed with revised school boundary lines clearly displayed, and with summary lists of affected students. All data and graphics are easily displayed using Microsoft Office products and the DeLorme® Street Atlas (Professional Edition).

Finally, after the new boundary lines are finalized, we work closely with transportation managers to help define new or alternate bus runs for the new school transportation configuration.
